IBERIA provides Acknowledgement Message for FWB

Dear Sir or Madam,

Being an active participant in IATA e-freight and e-AWB projects, IBERIA is always looking for ways to improve the quality of electronic Air Waybills (FWB). As a consequence since June 2011, IBERIA is providing an Acknowledgement Message (FMA) via TRAXON Europe for each successful transmitted FWB for e-AWB and e-freight shipments (EAW/EAP/ECC) which has been qualified.

A qualified FWB to IBERIA means:

Meeting IATA Cargo-IMP message standard

Meeting special requirements of IBERIA

In case of incorrect information in the AWB, instead of the FMA an Acknowledgment, an Error Message (FNA) will be sent out to the forwarder.

The electronic AWB is seen as a major step in making airfreight handling paper free along the whole supply chain. According to IATA’s plan, implementation of the e-AWB will be mandatory for all e-freight shipments on e-freight trade lanes as of 2012, and until end of 2014, a 100% of e-AWB penetration is expected between freight forwarders and airlines on all international feasible trade lanes where they are operating.

IBERIA is a great supporter of the IATA e-freight and one of the first airlines adopting the e-AWB in 2007. Until today, the e-AWB is fully operative in almost all domestic IBERIA routes and also on many international routes. IBERIA knows it could be difficult to get started on e-freight and e-AWB so an IBERIA Cargo e-Business Support Center (helpcargo@iberia.es ) is in place.

Together with the carrier and IATA, TRAXON Europe will organize an event on September 22nd in Madrid to help forwarders to better understand and support them to get started in e-freight. For more information of this event, please go to our website .

If you have any questions about the Acknowledgement Message provided by IBERIA, please do not hesitate to contact the IBERIA Cargo at ecargo@iberia.es or TRAXON Europe at helpdesk@traxon.com

Best Regards,
