Editorial

Good-bye, TRAXON Tracker. Hello, TRAXON eTracker! We’re breaking new ground in customer communication. Our motto: What’s good can still be improved. This is why we came up with the new eTracker. In this edition our focus will be on e-freight following our latest product launch eCargo Pouch. However, we will also keep you updated about industry trends and customer news as well as our own activities. All of course in a paperfree format and on a regular basis. I wish you a pleasant read.

Felix Keck, Managing Director TRAXON Europe

TRAXON Solutions

Paper documents are history. The future is eCargo Pouch.

Not so long ago it was still a dream of the future: seamless electronic freight communication along the entire supply chain. Now it’s becoming reality. TRAXON Europe offers a central document and message management system to make your e-freight processes even more effective: eCargo Pouch. Want to know more? Learn how TRAXON is closing the freight communication gap.

Persuasive cargo communication

The problem is nothing new. Every international airfreight shipment can require up to 30 different freight documents. This not only means considerable organization, but also high costs and long transport times. According to IATA, e-freight will save almost 7,800 tons of paper annually while reducing shipping times by an average of one day.

All very good reasons to switch to e-freight – and even more reason to learn about the benefits of TRAXON’s new eCargo Pouch.

Felix Keck, Managing Director TRAXON Europe, agrees:
“We are well aware that more and more companies in the airfreight industry are moving towards paperless freight processes. Their motives are not only economical, but also environmental. There are still a number of supply-chain obstacles though. That's where TRAXON comes into play. Our new product eCargo Pouch closes the gap between message transmission and central document and message management. eCargo Pouch offers paperfree processes ensuring fast and reliable freight communication across the entire supply chain.”

Innovation beats tradition

Freight documents used to be collected and transmitted in paper form. While electronic transmission of transport documents in the meantime has reached some penetration, supporting trade documents are still mainly provided in paper format. This means that several copies are required to be presented to different partners in the supply chain.  With eCargo Pouch, all authorized participants in the transport chain now have central access to these documents electronically. And this, by means of a web-based solution – from anywhere, around the clock. Considering this, eCargo Pouch is not only supporting the e-freight concept by eliminating the need to paper. It also serves as a common, exclusive and easy-to-use database for an authorized group of users.

Centralized, reliable and fast – these are the key benefits of eCargo Pouch. As a central document and message management system, it will focus in the initial phase on forwarders. Origin forwarders can now send trade and transport documents such as commercial invoices, certificates of origin, packing lists, air waybills and house air waybills electronically, providing all authorized partners with real-time access via the Internet.

Get through customs quickly and easily

Customs processes also stand to gain from eCargo Pouch. All documents can now be viewed and printed on location if needed as soon as they are in the pouch. This saves time and time is money. Communication channels between forwarders and customs are optimized and sources of error minimized. Also worth mentioning is eCargo Pouch’s archiving functionality and its compliance with IATA e-freight standards.

Good to know …

Chinese New Year: 2010 is the Year of the Tiger

International competence in electronic cargo communication is not all TRAXON Europe has to offer. Cultural competence is also one of our strengths, something our customers have come to appreciate. Indeed, being an international company with an international team, TRAXON Europe is no stranger to different cultural characteristics.
Our Chinese colleague Ming Han Gao, Marketing Manager & Business Partnerships at TRAXON Europe in Frankfurt, would like to wish our customers and partners all the best for the coming Chinese New Year, the Year of the Tiger. Or as they say in China: “Sheng Yi Xing Long, Gong Xi Fa Cai!”  (May you succeed in business and have good fortune). We talked with Ming Han recently and learned some interesting things about the Year of the Tiger.

When exactly is New Year's Day 2010 in China?
According to the Chinese lunar calendar (China's traditional calendar), February 14, 2010 is the first day of the Year of the Tiger.

What does the Year of the Tiger mean to people?

In Chinese culture, the tiger symbolizes power, braveness, good luck and a bright future. In terms of business, it is a year for overcoming difficulties and working towards success.

How do Chinese define the name of the year?
There are a total of 12 animals representing different years.  According to this system, the animal of the year is repeated every 12 years. For instance, now is the Year of the Tiger. The last Year of the Tiger was in 1998. The remaining eleven amimals are the rat, ox, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog and pig.

What do the Chinese do for New Year's?
New Year's is a time for people to visit their families, relatives and friends, and to celebrate together.  It is also a good time to make plans for the year ahead.  As we say in China, “A good start is half of success” – a solid plan at the beginning often brings favorable results.
